Caldas de Monchique

Caldas is the spa town just down the mountain from Monchique itself.

The springs were, according to history, used by the Romans. Today one can bathe in the outdoor swimming pools or use the jacuzzi or opt for a range of pampering treatments in the spa.




	If you are not wanting to bathe, the town is beautiful to walk around under the shade of many trees. In the square is a bread oven near to the bar and one can eat al-fresco with many local specialities available. Stroll up the side of the watercourse which will vary from rushing water to quiet trickle depending on the season. There are quiet pools at intervals, some with fish in them.
